Play: Passion

From my opinion, nothing more that I can say about the play, except it boring, boring, and boring. When having the chance to go and watch the play at the KL Pac, I thought it is surely have to be an interesting play to watch, however my expectation seems to be crushed. It is a musical play, supposedly to be fun and eye catching, but till the end it is frustrating. The storyline is confusing at first and after a while then I understand about it. The play was about a man who is heart broken when his woman cheated and betrayed him with another man. When she realized that there’s another woman who is trying to win the heart of the man she broke, she suddenly feels the jealousy and wanted the man back. They fight and in the end, both of the women fall in love with each other. This is a very strange play, like the headline of the play “LIFE IS SO STRANGE”. What I cannot stand the most is the sound of the music ‘ticking’ throughout the play, its give me a headache. Despite the strangeness of the play, I can give credit to the lighting and how the actors and the actresses play their role actively. Their dances are energetic, dynamic and lively to watch. Furthermore, their face expression is also one of the important elements for the audiences to understand the play even more.

How I Want To Be Evaluated By Evaluators (My Classmates) During Simulated Teaching

For the simulated teaching, I wanted the evaluators to evaluate me based on the five stages of the evaluation criteria which is my preparation of the lesson, pre-presentation/set induction, pre-reading, while-reading and lastly through my the language when teaching the lesson. In the preparation stage, I want the evaluators to focus whether I give the details of the lesson accurately to the students, my specific objectives is appropriate with the lesson, and if I prepared the worksheets appropriately and whether I give clear step by step details for the activities the students will do during their lesson. Then, in the set induction stage, I want the evaluator to focus if my set induction is interesting, the instruction given by me is clear and if my set induction is relevant to the topic of the lesson. While in the pre-reading stage, I want the evaluators to focus if the extract I choose for the lesson is at the appropriate length, my instructions is clear with accurate grammar and if the task is within the students’ ability. Furthermore, in the while-reading stage, I want the evaluators to focus if the task that I have prepared for this stage is related to the pre-reading stage, it is within the students’ ability, and whether I’m giving the clear instructions to the students and the worksheets I’ve prepared for the students is useful for the learning tasks. Lastly, I want the evaluators to evaluate me based on the language that I used throughout the lesson, whether my voice is clear and loud enough for all the students to hear, also if I made any grammatical errors and using an interactive language while speaking to the students.

When doing the evaluation for simulated teaching during the drama class, I will focus on five stages, which is the teacher’s preparation, pre-presentation/set induction, pre-reading, while-reading and lastly through the language used by the teachers. In the preparation stage, I will give credit if the stimulus activity is interesting, teacher stated the different stages clearly in an appropriate sequence and they were well prepared with the lesson and the worksheets are prepared for the students. Then, in the set induction stage, I will focus in whether the set induction by the teacher is clear, relevant to the topic of the lesson and the students understand what they will be taught. While in the pre-reading stage, I will focus more on if the extract chosen by the teachers is at appropriate length; the task is within the learners’ ability and whether the instruction given by the teacher is clear. Moreover, in the while-reading stage, I will see if the activities is related to the pre-reading task, if it is within the learners’ ability, and also if the task given is well connected or coherent with each other. Lastly, I will focus on the language used by the teacher whether the teachers speak clearly, in which it is enough for the whole class to hear the teachers. Besides that, were there any grammatical errors made by the teachers and the teachers’ uses interactive language while speaking to the students is also the criteria I will focus on the evaluation session.

Movie: A Streetcar Named Desire
From my opinion, it is really a worth experience watching this movie. The movie, A Streetcar Named Desire is a story about Blanche, a school teacher who has being expelled from school for having an affair with her student and she came to stay with her sister, Stella. Blanche having a difficulty staying at her sister apartment because of the different social class, where she was from high class people and Stella married a man, Stanley who is basically came from a working class people. Blanche is a fragile and weak character, where her mind is unstable due to her past, in which she married with a homosexual man at a young age who later killed himself, and she herself acted like a promiscuous where she sleep with men to satisfy her sexual desire. This movie has very well balance elements such as happiness, sad, violence which makes its very interesting to watch. However, this movie is a tragic movie where at last Blanche became insane she is send to the asylum.

Movie: Pygmalion
When having the chance to watch this movie, I didn’t miss it because I was eager and cannot wait for the title of the movie itself was is unique and eye catching. This movie is a black and white and the story is about a poor woman whose life is changed by a man who willing to changed her life to a better person (a lady). She later turns into a well-mannered lady and knows how to manage her unmanageable life before this. The story has a kind of comical elements on the way of turning the woman attitudes towards a lady. For me, the movie is interesting and at the same time a knowledgeable story for it providing me with the importance of being a person who is better than you uses to be before and the decision of improving our own life is never a mistake. The story then move on and both of the man and woman fall in love with each other but the man was too proud to admit that he also in love with the woman. Heart brokenly, the woman go away but in the end after a fight with the man, he at last admit that he also falls in love with her and they both together as a lover at last. The important scene in this movie is specifically into one place and this is not a tragic movie.

Movie: Macbeth
By seeing the movie, Macbeth all I can say is that the movie is unacceptable and never ever cross my mind that I will see that kind of movie. The movie is basically a story of Macbeth, at first he is the follower of the king, but later became selfish and wanted to take over the kingdom for himself. This is due the prophecy of the witches he met on the way back after winning a war with another country. The feeling of greed had conquer him and leads to his action of killing the king and later being crowned as a king, together with his wife, as a queen. In order to stay to that position, he killed his best friend to keep the secret of the murderer of the previous king, but luckily, the son (Macduff) manage to escape from the tragic incident and later when he was grown up, he is the one who take revenge for his father and crowned as the new king of the kingdom. His wife became insane and later killed herself by jumping out from the palace and he is left alone facing the armies who want to kill him. His kingdom is doomed, but what I adore a bit is his courage to fight for his dignity towards the end even though he is alone
For me, the movie is really tragic because its involved many violence scene of killing, murdering of innocent people and the scariest of all, bloods is everywhere during the story. Moral of the story, never ever betrayed anyone and appreciate what you have when they are with you. Never misuse people and takes their trust for granted because by doing that, you might be end up like Macbeth in the movie.

Movie: Shakespeare Wallah
We’ve been given the opportunity to watch a movie entitled Shakespeare Wallah. This is the first movie that I watch for this course and at first I was quite puzzled for I don’t understand at all what the movie is about. But later, after a while, I realized that the movie is about a group of actor and actresses who go traveling around the world in order to perform theatre basically the Shakespearean plays for example Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. This is a black and white movie which starring many famous actors during that time such as Sashi Kapoor as the hero and the heroin is really beautiful. The movie scene is interesting and tells about the love between two people with totally different background in which the man is from India and the woman is a white people. The woman is trying to promote the life of theater to acknowledge people about it; however the jealousy of the man made it hard for the woman. She cannot concentrate in her performance, so she made the final decision to leave the man and go back to her country. For me, the storyline is rather tragic especiall for lovers because usually they loved each other and meant to be together, however in this movie, it’s not like that. Besides that, the setting of the movie took place is really beautiful and make me more interested to watch the movie.

Teiresias

In the play Oedipus Rex, Teiresias, one of the main characters is a blind prophet and the servant of Apollo. He was summoned to the palace by the king, Oedipus to reveal the truth about the murderer of King Laios. He was twice asked by Oedipus to come to the palace to discuss the crisis in Thebes. In the first act of the play he finally appears, revealing the reasons for the city's devastation, knowledge that he is reluctant to reveal to Oedipus for fear of making him miserable. Oedipus, feeling himself to be betrayed by the prophet's resistance, verbally abuses Teiresias ("You sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man!") and accuses him and Creon are engaged in conspiracy against the crown, planning to betray him. Reluctantly, Teiresias tells Oedipus that he should not mock him so quickly; in lines he tells the king that it is he who is blind: "But I say that you, with both your eyes, are blind. You cannot see the wretchedness of your life, Nor in whose house you live, no, nor with whom." Significantly, Teiresias is also the first character in the play to question Oedipus's assumption that he knows his parentage and to tell him that he has committed murder that he does not yet know are his own. He tells Oedipus that he will become blind and poor, that Oedipus himself is the murderer of King Laios, and that he will learn that he has married his own mother and having the children which supposedly to be his sister and brother.
