In this week class session, we have learned about performance by referring to the text in ‘Now Read On’. During this session, some of us had to perform in front of class according to the text which is the dialogue by Edward Bond, Bingo. By doing this activity, I realized that in performance, it is actually depends on our own creativity to decided and imagine who the characters are, the setting of the conversation took place, how they speak and move to each other (tone, proxemics – the attitudes of people in relation to each other) and turn taking – the order of speakers following each other for instance interrupting and else. While doing the activity, it was very fun and enjoying seeing some of my course mate performing based on their creativity and thought. Then, we have to identify several texts whether it was an open text or not and how open the text was. We also have to figure out the setting and what the text is all about. In my opinion, this exercise is really a good introduction towards drama and makes me more interested to learn about drama.
